Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to guide the organization’s financial strategy.
  • Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making.

2. Budget Management

  • Oversee the budgeting process, including the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of departmental budgets.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular reviews of budget performance and make adjustments as necessary.

3. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, working with external auditors as needed.

4. Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor cash flow to ensure that the organization meets its financial obligations and maintains adequate liquidity.
  • Develop strategies to optimize cash flow, including receivables and payables management.
  • Manage banking relationships and negotiate financing arrangements as required.

5. Cost Control and Optimization

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct cost analysis to evaluate the financial impact of various business initiatives and decisions.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and organizational policies.

6. Risk Management

  • Identify and assess financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  • Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and assess their impact on the organization.

7. Investment Management

  • Evaluate investment opportunities and provide recommendations based on financial analysis and risk assessment.
  • Monitor the performance of investments and assess their alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop strategies for asset allocation and portfolio management.

8. Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise and lead the finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance department.
  • Identify training needs and provide opportunities for professional development.

9. Strategic Contribution

  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives, contributing financial insights and analyses to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with overall organizational goals.
  • Provide financial expertise during the evaluation of new business opportunities, mergers, or acquisitions.

10. Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate financial performance and strategies to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations and reports that effectively convey financial information and insights.

Desired candidate profile

1. Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in finance, business administration (MBA), or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) are highly valued.

2. Experience

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or related roles, with at least 2-4 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, compliance, and audit processes.

3. Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, accounting software, Microsoft Excel).
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial regulations.

4. Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

5. Leadership and Management Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Experience in setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and providing constructive feedback.

6. Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively presenting financial information to various stakeholders, including senior management and the board of directors.
