Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Develop and manage financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.

2. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting, complying with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other financial documents.

3. Budgeting and Cost Management

  • Lead budgeting processes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor expenses, optimize cost-efficiency, and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Track performance against budgets and make recommendations to improve profitability.

4. Cash Flow and Treasury Management

  • Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and maintain optimal working capital levels.
  • Oversee banking relationships, investments, and financial assets.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage debt requirements.

5. Business Support and Strategy

  • Partner with departmental heads to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
  • Support business growth initiatives, including investments, acquisitions, and expansions.
  • Analyze market trends and financial data to advise on strategic opportunities.

6. Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Work with auditors during internal and external audits to ensure compliance and resolve issues.

7. Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage and mentor the finance team, promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to improve team capabilities.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of finance staff.

8. Systems and Process Improvement

  • Oversee implementation and enhancement of financial systems and tools.
  • Develop and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure data integrity and streamline financial workflows.

9. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Act as a liaison with external partners, including banks, investors, and auditors.
  • Communicate financial results and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for board meetings and executive reviews.

10. Ad Hoc Financial Analysis and Support

  • Conduct special financial analysis for projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Support decision-making by providing insights on profitability, cost efficiency, and revenue opportunities.
  • Provide financial guidance on contract negotiations and major expenditures.

Desired candidate profile

1. Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA) or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) is highly desirable.

2. Experience

  • 5-10+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Proven track record in managing financial operations, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in a relevant industry (e.g., hospitality, manufacturing, or tech) can be a plus.

3. Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of financial modeling, cash flow management, and cost control techniques.

4. Leadership and People Management

  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a finance team.
  • Ability to foster a positive team environment, mentor team members, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

5. Strategic and Analytical Thinking

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Ability to identify financial risks, opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
