Director of Engineering

Roles and responsibilities

The Director of Engineering is responsible to ensure the efficient operation of the Engineering Department in support of all operating verticals, while guaranteeing the optimal maintenance of the equipment, building and hotel grounds. This position requires superior technical skills, a hands-on leadership style with strong people management, communications and organizational skills.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have experience in a similar role in a 5* luxury hotel and display strong traits in the following areas:

• A proven track record in luxury operations with a very strong technical background. (This is a complex role and at least 5 year experience in a similar role will be required)
• An instinctive eye for detail and a very keen passion for customer service
• An inspirational, caring and engaging leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Someone with an entrepreneurial mindset that thrives in fast pace environments
• A relentless and infectious passion for training and hands-on operational work
• A sound pre-opening experience in large hotel operations is advantageous
• Good problem solving, administrative skills are a must
• Arabic Speaker preferred

• Education and Experience

• Degree: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or related field); a master’s degree is often preferred.
• Experience: Significant experience in engineering roles, with a proven track record of leadership and project management, usually 10+ years.
• Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications may be beneficial.

8. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in engineering processes and develop mitigation strategies.

9. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate engineering updates and strategies to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency.

10. Innovation and Research: Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging research and development initiatives to enhance products and processes.
