Job Description
Our client is a leading trading company based in Nigeria that specializes in the exportation of high quality cocoa beans and cashew. Due to expansion they are in need of a HSE TEAM LEAD.
LOCATION: Victoria Island Lagos.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement HSE policies procedures and guidelines in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to HSE teams and stakeholders fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics trends and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement initiatives and achieve HSE objectives.
- Conduct risk assessments audits and inspections to identify hazards assess risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate potential incidents.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs and awareness campaigns to enhance employee competency and engagement in HSE initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal departments external contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment and compliance with HSE requirements.
- Lead investigations into incidents accidents and near misses identifying causes and implementing preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability empowerment and continuous improvement in HSE performance across the organization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Environmental Science Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Master s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
- Certification in Safety Management (e.g. OSHA ISPON NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
- 10 years experience of which at least 5 years are in senior role.
- Proven track record of leading successful HSE programs initiatives and projects in a complex operating environment.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies conducting regulatory audits and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Indepth knowledge of HSE regulations standards and best practices applicable to the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles hazard identification techniques and safety management systems (e.g. ISO 45001).
