Job Description

Our client is a leading trading company based in Nigeria that specializes in the exportation of high quality cocoa beans and cashew. Due to expansion they are in need of a HSE TEAM LEAD.

LOCATION: Victoria Island Lagos.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement HSE policies procedures and guidelines in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to HSE teams and stakeholders fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics trends and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement initiatives and achieve HSE objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments audits and inspections to identify hazards assess risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate potential incidents.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs and awareness campaigns to enhance employee competency and engagement in HSE initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments external contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment and compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Lead investigations into incidents accidents and near misses identifying causes and implementing preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability empowerment and continuous improvement in HSE performance across the organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Environmental Science Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Master s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  • Certification in Safety Management (e.g. OSHA ISPON NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
  • 10 years experience of which at least 5 years are in senior role.
  • Proven track record of leading successful HSE programs initiatives and projects in a complex operating environment.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies conducting regulatory audits and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Indepth knowledge of HSE regulations standards and best practices applicable to the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles hazard identification techniques and safety management systems (e.g. ISO 45001).


10 years experience, of which at least 5 years are in senior role. Proven track record of leading successful HSE programs, initiatives, and projects in a complex operating environment. Experience working with regulatory agencies, conducting regulatory audits, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to the oil and gas industry.
