The facility seeks a Mill Superintendent for its underground zinc operation conveniently located near the Thousand Islands Lake Ontario shoreline and the Adirondack Mountains. Lake Placid is nearby for worldclass skiing and Montreal and Ottawa are within a 23 hour drive.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP of Operations the Mill Superintendent will:
- Manage the mill supervisor millwright lead laboratory technicians and other mill personnel as required.
- Monitor mill processes to maintain or increase production.
- Oversee quality assurance and control for the assay lab and mill operations.
- Collaborate with the Mine and Shaft Departments to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
- Plan and oversee mill maintenance.
- Identify and troubleshoot production process issues.
- Provide technical assistance to mill operators millwrights and lab technicians.
- Maintain and order chemical inventory.
- Handle metallurgical accounting and control of material inventories.
- Provide the A/R Department with metallurgical data for provisional invoices assay exchange and final invoice negotiation.
- Communicate concentrate inventories and production schedules to the Shipping Department to coordinate outbound concentrate haulage.
- Stay current on industry practices and technological advancements.
- Work with the Environmental Department on daily discharge water quality treatment and tailings storage facility (TSF) conditions.
- Develop budget planning for production operations and capital expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies including safety environmental regulations confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Exercise discretion and sound judgment consistently in job performance.
- Support personnel development within the department.
- Ensure all employees and contractors follow mine site safety protocols and MSHA guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- General understanding of milling maintenance and flotation operations.
- Proficiency in PC skills including word processing spreadsheets databases and presentation software.
- Strong verbal written analytical and persuasive skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid drivers license.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. on a fulltime basis.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $90000$130000 contingent on experience.
