Job Description

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Plan Develop and Implement:

Plan and prepare for students learning appropriately using knowledge and understanding of the GSIS Context

Prepare leasson plan in advance for any class in a structured format which should include the learning objectives content specification inquiry/focus questions teaching methodology learning resources learning engagement assessement and assignment

Develop welldesigned and learnercentered learning engagements

Have an understanding of students needs and abilities to design appropriate learning experiences

Implement inquirybased teaching and learning to convey knowledge conceptual understandings and required skills to the students and respond to student inquiries and provide meaningful advice

Shortlist and design the coursebooks required for the students

Design and implement interdisciplinary lesson plan also create charts on how long the unit will conduct interdisciplinary plan

Use the design cycle to develop intellectual and practical approaches to problemsolving


II. Teaching Approach:

To ensure that the children experience a broad balanced relevant and stimulating learning experience.

To motivate and stimulate the childrens learning abilities encouraging learning through handson activities

To creatively devise and produce visual aids and teaching resources

To create and manage a caring supportive purposeful and stimulating classroom which is conducive to children s learning

Integrating classroom learning to real world situations and current research making clear the why and what of learning

Work collaboratively with members of the department and positively contribute to departmental tasks such as policies common assessments instructional practices grading practice etc.

Embrace the department focus on student centered learning and critical thinking

Encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets

Encourage and foster intellectual curiosity

Take into account the differing ability levels of students and differentiate work accordingly

Set appropriate tasks and challenges according to the published timetable and ensure that work is regularly evaluated with constructive feedback

Contribute to the enrichment activities that are an essential part of learning in an international boarding school

To ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice and to promote the ethos of the school.

To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures

Willingness to stay wellinformed in the subject/curriculum

Participate in annual evaluation and professional growth taking full advantage of professional development opportunities

Maintain high ethical standards and display integrity at all times

A variety of teaching strategies supporting the development of ATL skills are to be included for facilitating a holistic view of the area of Mathematics (ATL skills include Communication Thinking Social Selfmanagement Research)


III. Assessement and Feedback:

Plan and implement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes for students

Analyse the results of the previous year and plan the teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed

Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations. Design programme tests and assessment tasks as required. Assess the eportfolio at the end of each unit based on the design assessment criteria and strands.

Formative assessments are to be planned in accordance with the nature of the subject and implemented in a systematic manner to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need focus

Corrections of assessments and homework given in the Managebac

Closely monitor the student projects and guide them until completion

Provide oral and written feedback to students and other stakeholders

Work collaboratively with other school teachers to plan technologybased projects and crosscurricular units to enrich the student learning

Update the current status of the unit completion to the parallel teachers head of the department and the section coordinator

Receive and implement the feedback received from the section coordinator and the head of the department

Ability to evaluate and review their own teaching methods materials and unit plans and make changes as appropriate

Teachers performance shall be measure based on the evidence of student s knowledge conceptual understanding and skills developed during the teaching and learning process


IV. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy

Maintain appropriate records to demonstrate progress made by students

To assess record and report on the attendance

V. Meeting:

Participate in department meetings and provide constructive inputs for improvement

Participating in staff group or other meetings related to the school curriculum for the better organization and administration of the school

PG in Mathematics (preferable) with suitable teaching qualification/ any other professional degree with Mathematics as one of the major subjects


Experience:

A minimum of 35 years experience in teaching Mathematics

Sound knowledge in using a Graphic Display Calculator

Knowledge of Coursework and Extended Essay
