We are looking for a detailoriented Payroll Assistant to join our finance team and help us maintain accurate payroll records while supporting our commitment to employee satisfaction.
As a Payroll Assistant you will be responsible for processing payroll and maintaining accurate employee records. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all employees handling payroll inquiries and supporting the payroll departments daily functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the processing of payroll for all employees while ensuring compliance with relevant legal regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate employee records including new hires terminations and changes in employment status.
- Verify and input timesheets pay rates and other payroll information into the payroll system.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll tax withholdings deductions and other related topics.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist with payroll audits and resolve discrepancies in payroll records.
- Support the preparation of payroll reports for management and finance departments.
- Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and payroll laws to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in finance accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in payroll processing or accounting roles is a plus.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel; experience with payroll software is a plus (e.g. ADP Paychex etc.).
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
