Key Technician

Roles and responsibilities

As the responsible person for all electrical and instrumentation activities at our facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gas compression equipment and control systems. Your primary focus will be on conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and repairs in alignment with approved maintenance strategies and plans.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Maintenance Operations:

   • Ensure productive and safe operation and maintenance activities related to gas compression equipment and control systems.
   • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), daily checks, and testing procedures including loop testing, megger testing, and PLC analysis.

2. Troubleshooting and Repair:

   • Diagnose and resolve issues with alternators, transmitters, flow meters, circuit breakers, switchgear, switches, valves, control panels, and engine ignition systems.
   • Conduct control panel and systems troubleshooting, including panel programming, to enhance operational reliability.

3. Compliance and Safety:

   • Execute maintenance tasks according to planning and in compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) procedures and regulations.
   • Support site leadership in adhering to safety protocols during all maintenance activities.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Provide feedback to supervisors to improve project performance.
   • Assist in completing PM reports and maintaining accurate documentation related to maintenance activities.

5. Inventory Management:

   • Support site leadership with spare parts management, including monitoring inventory levels, conducting counts, tracking parts movement, and maintaining Min-Max inventory strategies.

6. Technical Proficiency:

   • Read and interpret various technical drawings and documentation, including blueprints, schematics, loop drawings, and P&IDs, to facilitate effective troubleshooting and repairs.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a diploma or degree in a relevant field (Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or similar).
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar work environment, preferably within a turbine-based gas compression plant.
• Comprehensive understanding of engine and compressor performance and operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Willingness to work in remote site conditions, often in hot and humid climates.
• Ability to work long hours, including being on call after hours as needed.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Familiarity with O&M activities and best practices in maintenance management.
