Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Vehicle Operation

  • Safe Driving: Operate light vehicles (e.g., vans, trucks) safely and in compliance with all traffic regulations and company policies.
  • Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes for timely delivery and transportation.

2. Passenger Transportation

  • Pick-Up and Drop-Off: Transport employees, clients, or guests to various locations as scheduled.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and accommodating to passengers during transport.

3. Vehicle Maintenance

  • Regular Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Report any vehicle issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel and ensure timely repairs.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Logbook Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents.
  • Incident Reporting: Report any accidents, traffic violations, or incidents involving the vehicle immediately to management.

5. Compliance with Regulations

  • Traffic Laws Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle.
  • Company Policies: Follow company policies and procedures related to transportation and safety.

6. Loading and Unloading

  • Cargo Handling: Assist with the loading and unloading of goods or equipment, ensuring safe handling to prevent damage or injury.
  • Weight Distribution: Ensure proper weight distribution and secure loading to maintain vehicle stability.

7. Emergency Preparedness

  • Safety Protocols: Be familiar with emergency procedures and safety protocols related to vehicle operation.
  • First Aid Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of basic first aid procedures in case of emergencies during transport.

8. Communication

  • Coordination: Communicate effectively with dispatch or management regarding scheduling, delays, and vehicle status.
  • Client Interaction: Interact professionally with clients, passengers, and colleagues, addressing any inquiries or concerns.

9. Professionalism

  • Dress Code: Maintain a neat and professional appearance while representing the company.
  • Behavior: Exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude while interacting with others.

10. Additional Duties

  • Assistance: Provide assistance in other tasks as required, such as running errands or supporting logistics operations.
  • Training Participation: Participate in any necessary training or workshops related to safe driving practices or vehicle maintenance.

Desired candidate profile

1. Educational Background

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Additional Training: Completion of a driver training program can be an asset.

2. Licensing and Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type being operated (e.g., light vehicle).
