Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the speech and language needs of students tailoring therapy plans to address individual requirements.
- Develop and implement effective therapy interventions working closely with students on a 1:1 basis to enhance their communication skills in both social and academic contexts.
- Collaborate closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to integrate speech and language support within the classroom setting ensuring a cohesive approach to student development.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and classroom assistants on strategies to facilitate communication and language development among all students particularly those with speech and language difficulties.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate student progress adjusting therapy plans as necessary to ensure continued development and success.
- Prepare detailed reports on student progress and communicate findings effectively to parents and guardians providing strategies for support at home.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments therapy sessions and student progress adhering to school policies and professional standards.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in speech and language therapy participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- A registered Speech and Language Therapist with a relevant degree and professional qualification demonstrating your expertise in the field.
- Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred with a solid understanding of the educational environment and the specific challenges faced by SEN students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling you to build strong relationships with students parents and colleagues.
- A patient empathetic and creative approach to therapy adapting methods to suit the individual needs of students.
- A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
