Background/Need:
The Laboratory maintains a significant population of Microsoft Windows and macOS endpoint systems. These enterprise systems are managed by the Labs Information Services Department (ISD) which oversee all aspects of the system lifecycle including new system image creation and delivery systems management including OS patching third party application patching security and systems agent management and advanced troubleshooting. The team is in need of a senior application packager for Windows and Macintosh systems to create deploy and manage software and application updates to Laboratory systems.
The ability to utilize software delivery platforms such as BigFix HCL and JAMF to create and deploy software applications and updates is required for this position. Ability to create and report on metrics relative to package distribution is important.
This position will report to the Labs EndPoint Engineering Team as part of ISD. The goals of this position will be the successful deployment of software update and security controls as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to work across other IT teams to address operational project and compliance tasks as necessary. In addition to technical skills necessary for completing the work this position will require strong organizational project management and communication skills to help implement and manage change. An understanding of security controls based on NIST 800171 will be important and previous experience in working in a security compliance environment is a plus.
The current platform configuration requires significant knowledge of Windows 11 systems management platforms including HCL BigFix and Microsoft ECM JAMF and scripting technologies including Microsoft PowerShell Python Batch and VBScript. In addition the position will demand seniorlevel experience with troubleshooting and vulnerability remediation including the creation of scriptable solutions.
Responsibilities:
Build test and deploy software update packages to the Laboratorys Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh enterprise platform
Apply customizations to deployed applications to enable settings for it to comply with Laboratory security stance
Ensure solutions meet Laboratory security and compliance requirements requiring knowledge / experience with security standards including NIST800171
Outstanding communication skills including written verbal with focus on ability to synthesize technical content for delivery to nontechnical staff / executives
Perform troubleshooting of application install/update issues
Demonstrate fundamentals of emotional intelligence including empathy active listening accountability and building professional networks across different functional teams
Create system administration efficiencies including automating / scripting tasks vulnerability and patch management as appropriate
Create metrics on package creation distribution as necessary
Participate in system administration where applicable and provide tier 3 support for incident and solution management
Embrace creative thinking and technical change as part of researching planned changes to Lab identity environment and work to introduce new updates and features while maintaining the Labs security best practices and data protections
An ability to work autonomously with appropriate guidance and report on progress at regular intervals
Critical thinking and analytical approach towards problem solving and ability to triage issues to ensure a timely returntoservice for customers
Understanding of project management fundamentals and experience working as part of a team within projects
Must Have:
Strong knowledge of Windows Desktop (11)
Experience with security compliance and best practices especially centered around NIST 800171 / 80053
Knowledge of key scripting technologies include PowerShell Batch and Python
Knowledge of project management and ITSM fundamentals

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or applicable field or five years of equivalent relevant work experience
