Coating Inspector

Roles and responsibilities

Prepare, operate, and maintain specialist tools and equipment required for HVOF coating operations.
Perform surface preparation processes, including grinding and abrasive blasting.
Operate six-axis robotic HVOF Thermal Spray equipment.
Conduct quality control measures, including pull tests and thickness verification.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and QHSE policies.
. Surface Preparation:

Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as needed.
Inspect surfaces for defects or contaminants and address any issues before coating.
2. Coating Application:

Apply various types of coatings (e.g., paints, sealants, powders) using different methods (e.g., spray, brush, roller).
Ensure proper application techniques to achieve the desired finish and performance characteristics.
3. Quality Control:

Monitor coating thickness, adhesion, and overall quality during and after application.
Conduct tests and inspections to ensure coatings meet industry standards and specifications.
4. Equipment Operation:

Operate and maintain coating application equipment, including spray guns, mixers, and ovens.
Troubleshoot and resolve any equipment issues to ensure efficient operation.
5. Material Management:

Select appropriate coating materials based on project requirements and specifications.
Manage inventory of coatings and related materials, ensuring availability for projects.
6. Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and regulations related to coating processes, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure a safe working environment.
7. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of coating processes, materials used, and inspections performed.
Prepare reports detailing project progress, quality assessments, and any issues encountered.
8. Technical Expertise:

Stay updated on the latest coating technologies, trends, and industry best practices.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients and team members.
9. Collaboration:

Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other specialists to ensure successful project execution.

Desired candidate profile

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with formal training in HVOF thermal spray coating.
Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., Vernier calipers, micrometers).
Certification to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
Technical Skills:

Proficient in coating application techniques and surface preparation methods.
Strong understanding of coating materials, their properties, and appropriate usage.
4. Quality Control:

Experience with quality control processes, including inspection techniques and testing for adhesion, thickness, and finish quality.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot coating defects and performance issues.
