Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. System Design and Implementation:

  • Design, develop, and implement SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure system alignment with operational needs.

2. Configuration and Programming:

  • Configure SCADA software and hardware components, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units).
  • Develop and modify SCADA applications, including HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens and reporting tools.

3. Data Management:

  • Collect, analyze, and manage data from various sensors and devices within the SCADA system.
  • Ensure data integrity and implement data logging and archiving solutions.

4. Monitoring and Control:

  • Monitor real-time data and control operations to ensure optimal performance and safety of industrial processes.
  • Respond to alarms and anomalies, troubleshooting issues as they arise.

5. Maintenance and Support:

  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates to SCADA systems to ensure reliability and security.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users and operators.

6. Security and Compliance:

  • Implement cybersecurity measures to protect SCADA systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data acquisition and control.

7. Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for SCADA systems, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance logs.
  • Create training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users.

8. Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies in SCADA and automation.

9. Project Management:

  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for SCADA implementations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.

10. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into system performance and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze data trends to support decision-making and process improvements.

Desired candidate profile

  • Relevant certifications in SCADA, automation systems, or cybersecurity are a plus.

3. Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
  • Strong understanding of programming languages related to automation (e.g., C#, Python, or scripting languages).

4. Data Management:

  • Experience with data analysis and management, including data logging and reporting.
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL) for data retrieval and manipulation.

5. Problem Solving:

  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Ability to assess system performance and implement improvements.

6. Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, stakeholders, and end-users.
  • Ability to create clear documentation and training materials.

7. Project Management:

  • Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of SCADA projects.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

8. Security Awareness:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices related to industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO) is advantageous.
