Support Estimation for Door Hardware and Access Control based on project
specification.
Propose ironmongery for each door based on its standards, location, function
and requirements for a project
Prepare quotation for estimated cost of the entire project
Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project
Prepare reports detailing all of the costs going into a project
1. Project Evaluation:
Review project specifications and drawings to understand the scope of work.
Analyze project requirements to determine the necessary ironmongery products and quantities.
2. Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for ironmongery materials, including hardware, locks, fittings, and other related products.
Utilize pricing databases and supplier quotes to ensure accurate cost assessments.
3. Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to clarify project details and requirements.
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain quotes and ensure product availability.
4. Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, proposals, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and submit detailed estimation reports for review and approval.
5. Quantity Take-offs:
Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to determine exact material needs.
Ensure that all quantities are accurately accounted for in estimates.
6. Compliance and Standards:
Ensure that estimates comply with relevant building codes and industry standards.
Stay updated on changes in regulations and best practices in ironmongery.
7. Cost Control:
Monitor project budgets and costs during execution to identify any variances or potential savings.
Provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions and alternatives.
8. Client Interaction:
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences regarding ironmongery products.
Present estimates and proposals clearly and professionally, addressing any questions or concerns.

Degree or Diploma is required.
1. Experience:
Proven experience as an estimator in the construction or ironmongery industry.
Familiarity with estimating software and tools is advantageous.
2. Education:
Degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in estimating or construction management are a plus.
3. Skills:
Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost estimation.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and documentation.
4. Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of ironmongery products, including hardware, locks, fittings, and installation requirements.
Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Personal Attributes:
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to propose cost-effective solutions.
6. Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
7. Time Management:
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
8. Teamwork:
