Job Description
Title: FEA Engineer ASME
FTE: 120k
Location: Plymouth MN
Key Responsibilities:
- Finite Element Analysis: Perform simulations to predict how components behave under stress strain thermal loads etc.
- ASME Code Compliance: Ensure designs such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) ASME B31 series (for piping) and others meet ASME standards.
- Stress and Structural Analysis: Analyze materials and structures mechanical integrity and strength.
- Material Selection: Use knowledge of materials and their properties to select appropriate materials for specific applications.
- Modeling and Simulation: Use software like ANSYS Abaqus or SolidWorks Simulation to model components and run tests virtually.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports detailing analysis results conclusions and design recommendations.
- Collaboration: Work with crossfunctional teams including design manufacturing and quality engineers.
- Expertise in FEA Tools: Proficiency with FEA software like ANSYS Abaqus or COMSOL.
- Understanding of ASME Standards: Strong knowledge of ASME codes related to the specific industry (e.g. BPVC for pressure vessels).
- Mechanical Engineering Background: Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to scrutinize details of simulations and designs for potential failures.
- Problemsolving: Capable of identifying and resolving design and structural issues.
- ASME BPVC: Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for pressure vessels and piping systems.
- ASME B31: Code for pressure piping.
- ASME Y14.5: Dimensioning and Tolerancing useful in interpreting and creating engineering drawings.
