Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic English teacher to join our dynamic department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of confident communicators and critical thinkers fostering a love for literature and the power of language within a diverse and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery:
    • Plan deliver and evaluate engaging and stimulating English lessons across the curriculum catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 78) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 911) in line with the National Curriculum.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their literacy skills effectively (phonics reading comprehension writing fluency grammar vocabulary acquisition).
    • Develop a love for reading and writing encouraging exploration of a wide range of texts (fiction nonfiction poetry drama) and fostering critical analysis skills (close reading identifying themes character development literary devices).
  • Building Relationships:
    • Build strong and positive relationships with students fostering their confidence in written and verbal communication.
    • Provide constructive feedback and support to enable students to reach their full potential (individualized learning plans targeted intervention strategies).
    • Cultivate a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages participation intellectual curiosity and a love for the English language.
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in reading writing speaking and listening skills (formative and summative assessments).
    • Provide students with clear constructive feedback that helps them improve their writing reading and analytical skills (written feedback peer review selfassessment).

  • A qualified English teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of literature and language in students of all abilities.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
