Title: Controls Engineer III
Location: Richland Township Michigan
Duration: 12 Months
Description:
Will initially be working on a project in Michigan for about a year and then they need to be open to moving to a new project in a new location after a year
This will be a hybrid work assignment with the candidate working remotely and traveling to project site as necessary. Initially the project will be in Michigan.
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering
Minimum Experience: 5 Years
Interview Process: Teams Meetings and then 2nd round follow up interview.
Scope of Position:
- A senior controls engineer responsible for providing handson electrical support for the installation startup and debug manufacturing process equipment. This includes working with a multifunctional team (mechanical electrical controls facilities IT operations etc.)
- Involves commissioning PLCs drives sensors HMIs across a large integrated manufacturing line
Requirements:
- Experience with automated equipment design install startup and debug in a highvolume manufacturing environment
- Familiar with the design and programming of PLC systems primarily Allen Bradley ControlLogix
- Studio 5000 RSLinx FactoryTalk View
- Configuration and setup of ControlLogix PLC
- Ethernet IP communication
- HMI SCADA iFix minor changes and troubleshooting
- Drive setup and tuning Yaskawa drives
- PID Tuning
- Ability to read and update electrical schematics
- Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills gender culture race etc.)
- Capable of multitasking
- Ability to work with minimal direction
- Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions
Key Responsibilities
- Managing electrical trades executing equipment install and debug.
- Verify wiring done to print answer questions and perform point to point checks
- Setup and commission PLCs drives and field I/O
- Perform safety validation checks per SAT documents
- Coordinating installation plan with safety and plant receivers
- Conferring with Client engineers and vendors to resolve equipment install or build discrepancies.
- Ensure safe work practices
- Updating drawings and equipment documentation
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel (less than 25%)
- Travel to Client plant sites as needed to support projects
- Travel to a supplier or vendor may be required for equipment checkout before shipment.
Work Schedule:
- Typical 40 hours per week. May require working weekends/holidays or longer days to support installation schedule
