Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development and implementation of strategies that align with national goals for afforestation, particularly within the context of the Saudi Green Initiative. This role is crucial for promoting sustainable practices and enhancing vegetation cover across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy Development: Design and implement comprehensive afforestation strategies that align with national objectives. Your expertise will help shape initiatives that support environmental sustainability and biodiversity enhancement.

2. Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice on tree planting techniques and vegetation cover development, ensuring that best practices are followed to maximize ecological benefits.

3. Long-term Planning: Support the creation of long-term afforestation plans, focusing on sustainability and resilience against environmental changes.

4. Assessment and Improvement: Conduct thorough assessments of existing afforestation projects. Identify strengths and weaknesses, and recommend actionable improvements to enhance overall effectiveness.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, to ensure the successful implementation of afforestation strategies. Building strong relationships is key to fostering collaboration.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop frameworks for monitoring and evaluating the impact of afforestation initiatives on local ecosystems. Use data-driven insights to inform future strategies and adjustments.

7. Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management that detail the outcomes of implemented strategies and provide recommendations for future actions.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications & Skills:

• Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 15 years in afforestation strategy development, with at least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Expertise: Deep understanding of afforestation strategies, ecosystem management, sustainable forestry practices, and plant biology.
• Project Experience: Proven track record with afforestation programs and environmental projects, demonstrating successful outcomes.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex environmental challenges effectively.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders, ensuring clarity and collaboration.

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Forester (Society of American Foresters)
• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Certification
• Certification in Sustainable Forestry Management
