Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our team at [Company Name]. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems. You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our fleet, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics and Repair: Perform thorough inspections and diagnostics on diesel engines and associated systems to identify issues. Utilize specialized tools and equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.

  • Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to ensure optimal performance and longevity of diesel engines.

  • Component Replacement: Remove and replace defective parts, such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, and exhaust systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all repairs, services, and parts used for each vehicle. Utilize computer systems for tracking service history and inventory management.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics and team members to address complex repair issues. Assist in training junior mechanics and apprentices when required.

  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs, timelines, and costs. Provide recommendations for preventive maintenance to extend vehicle life and performance.


Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in diesel mechanics is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, with at least [X] years in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and systems, including fuel systems, electrical systems, and emissions control.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment, as well as hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
