Job Description
MEP engineers job is to plan design install and maintain mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems in construction projects:
Design: Use project management software to create MEP plans. Ensure designs comply with international standards and required software.
Installation: Oversee the installation of MEP systems by contractors and ensure they meet all codes and regulations.
Maintenance: Provide technical advice to supervisors inspectors and service providers.
Troubleshooting: Analyze engineering issues and find solutions.
Coordination: Work with architects structural engineers and electrical engineers to coordinate onsite work.
Project management: Manage multiple MEP projects and ensure the project schedule is adhered to.
Cost estimates: Prepare cost estimates for MEP systems.
Documentation: Handle documentation and monitor project handbooks.
Review: Review contractor drawings installation method statements and shop drawings.
Clarifications: Make technical clarifications to resolve coordination issues.
Updates: Update project directors.
MEP engineers work as part of a project management team and report to a project director.
Some qualifications and skills for MEP engineers include:
A bachelors degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Registration with a professional body
Knowledge of modern design construction and maintenance methods
Ability to read and interpret drawings
Proficiency in design and calculation software
Excellent communication skills
meeting with clients virtually or during sales visits. demonstrating and presenting products. establishing new business. maintaining accurate records. attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings. reviewing sales performance. negotiating contracts and packages.
