Purpose of role

  • Support the Production Team Leader Supervisor Planner and Manager (Production Team) to complete any jobs in Assembly of Cathelco corrosion protection products.
  • Cut down Bar stock by means of operating band saw.
  • Operate multiple manual Lathes methods required are drill Tap and face up stock.
  • Complete all tasks of anode manufacture to current job card and drawing requirements prior to exworks date sign off job.
  • Assist Production Team to maintain stocks at viable levels.
  • Report to the Production team any defects with equipment and storage racking within the area.
  • Report near misses on department daily team board.
  • Assist with saw requirements upon request.
  • Operate forklift truck in all areas is desirable.
  • When required reporting any concerns to the Production Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Main tasks but not limited to are cutting/turning bar stock rolling sheet metal to deliver to the assembly department of corrosion products in the machine shop. On occasion you may be asked to complete tasks outside your area but within your capability.
  • Ensure that all Job cards are delivered by the set deadlines.
  • Ensure jobs are booked on and off to allow WIP Reporting within the Production Team.
  • Ensure that the day to day tasks are carried out in accordance with the workshop policy and procedures ISO9001 and Cathelco Group company handbook.
  • Provide support for all of Production if required.
  • Help QA and QC activities and initiatives within manufacture and production as well as helping carry out the annual stock take.
  • Work with Production team to ensure the correct level of materials are available when required at all times.
  • Ensure each team board is updated daily with any issues addressing the departmental KPIs positively each day.
  • Ensure you operate safely and respecting company H&S policies at all times.
  • Address departmental daily 5S requirements.
  • Ensure the department is kept clean and tidy and end of shift checks are completed daily.
  • Continually improve the department and ensure any pertinent improvement actions are implemented.
  • Actively find ways to improve Quality Cost and Delivery (QCD).
  • Provide any relevant information to warehouse / despatch teams.

    Relationships required

    • Work with all other members of the department Production team and procurement to achieve on time delivery on cost on specification targets.
    • Reporting to the Production Manager give daily updates on personal work based progress via timesheet or whichever method the Production Manager chooses.
    • Also work with the Production Supervisor/Team Leader and Senior Engineer.
    • Have a good working relationship with all company employees.

    Skills and experience required

    • Good organisation skills.
    • Working within a team. Good team player.
    • Experience of anode assembly.
    • General Mechanical expertise.
    • Understanding of the business production KPIs and how to apply them in the workplace; Safety Quality Delivery and Performance.
    • Good attention to detail.
    • Ability to demonstrate excellent time management skills.
    • Great work ethic.
    • Can do attitude.
    • Important qualities include integrity accountability empathy humility resilience vision influence and positivity.

    Qualifications sought but not mandatory

    • NVQ or equivalent qualifications are required educated to GCSE standard in English and Mathematics Grades C or above is desirable.

    Job specific notes

    • This role is not deemed to be a physically demanding role however bending kneeling and laying on the floor is sometimes required.
