Job Description
Job Title: Transportation Logistics Coordinator/ Dispatcher
Location: Mississauga ON
Job Type: Full Time
Position Summary:
Employal is seeking a motivated and detailoriented Transportation Logistics Coordinator/ Dispatcher to manage and optimize our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will ensure timely delivery of good while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
Route Planning: Develop and optimize transportation routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimising costs.
Dispatch Operations: Assign and schedule drivers to ensure efficient dispatching of vehicles for deliveries and loading of trucks Perform physical inventory count.
Process shipping documents for DHL Purolator UPS and FedEx electronically or manually for domestic and international shipments.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with drivers customers and warehouse staff regarding shipment statuses and any potential delays.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any logistical issues or challenges that arise during transportation including delays or routing changes Special requests or shipments outside routine.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate shipping and delivery documentation including bills of lading and shipping manifests.
Monitoring: Track shipments in transit using GPS and other tracking systems providing realtime updates to stakeholders.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to customers addressing inquiries and concerns related to transportation logistics.
Compliance: Ensure all transportation activities comply with local state and federal regulations and company policies.
Reporting: Generate reports on transportation metrics including delivery times costs and service levels for management review
Update IT logistics systems accordingly and print documents as needed.
Safety: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures and communicate any unusual conditions and potential safety hazards.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics supply chain management or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in transportation logistics or dispatching preferably in Transportation industry.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite Excel Word Etc.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance.
Experience in a warehouse environment required (minimum 1 year) LTL loading experience is an asset Logistics/ Transportation warehouse experience an asset Knowledge of shipping documents an asset Strong work ethic High school education or equivalence English language proficiency Attention to detail and accuracy of recorded information Ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team Comply with safety legislation as per the Ontario Health and Safety Act and company policy experience in loading, cross-docking, and unloading freight to maximize the efficient delivery of customer goods while maintaining a safe work environment
Education
