Job Description

About Us

Since starting in Perth in 2012 CMW Geosciences has expanded to 18 offices with 300 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are hardworking downtoearth and passionate engineers and geologists who provide quality geotechnical site investigation analysis and design advice to the construction infrastructure and energy sectors.

As a graduate at CMW Geosciences youll be treated like an industry professional from the getgo. After completing the necessary training and inductions youll go out in the field to learn the practical field skills that form the basis of the technical work we do. Youll have access to senior technical staff to guide you through the early stages of your career and fasttrack your growth. Youll be exposed to the full project lifecycle to start to prepare you for career from day one. Unlike larger organizations you wont be siloed into one stream of the business or handed lowresponsibility tasks for the first year. Youll be learning technical practical and project related skills and within 24 years we expect youll be able to manage and run projects from start to finish.

We are looking for a recent graduate (or soon to be graduate) to join our graduate program in Sydney. We would consider a start date of 11 November 2024 or 28 January 2025.

A Typical Day

CMW Geosciences graduates fulfill our fieldbased roles. A typical day would include going to site to complete manual field work tasks and testing. Onsite testing might include logging rock and soil bore holes undertaking hand augers or observing machine excavated test pits. On our construction sites you would be observing piling retaining walls or ground improvement sites.

If youre in the office you would likely be processing logs and soil samples writing technical reports and assisting project managers with deliverables.

Our range of projects are diverse across countries and offices: you could be communicating design elements to contractors on a community housing development in Rotorua. Or be in regional Queensland at the MacIntyre Windfarm carrying piling supervision and providing construction phase support. Or across the country in Perth at Jandakot Airport undertaking CPT testing dynamic cone penetrations testing infiltration testing and hand auger boring.

What Youll Need

  • A Civil Engineering Geology or Earth Science Degree
  • Ability to complete strenuous field work tasks
  • Ability to travel when required
  • A full New Zealand or Australian drivers license
  • A desire to work outside with a love of rocks soil and geology
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills both verbal and written

What Youll Get

  • Additional Day Leave on Birthday
  • Provision of minimum of 50 hours Training / CPD per year and paid membership to Engineers Australia / Engineers New Zealand
  • Access to our 2year CMW graduate training program
  • Office social events throughout the year
  • Ability to earn overtime and/or time in Lieu
