Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Medical Officer to work as Rural Generalist
The Hospital:
This facility is a level 3 rural health service providing comprehensive medical care in a supportive community environment. With 23 beds it offers emergency inpatient and outpatient services along with telehealth options to enhance patient access. The dedicated team includes a range of healthcare professionals supported by visiting specialists and allied health services. The facility is designed to meet the needs of both acute and longstay patients ensuring quality care for the local population.
Location:
This vibrant town is situated along a key highway surrounded by volcanic basalt mountains and fertile black soil plains. The nearby river supplies essential water resources and offers camping opportunities. With a population of around 12000 this regional center thrives on mining beef production and education including boarding schools that serve remote rural families.
The opportunity:
The Senior Medical Officer (SMO) role encompasses the provision of emergency and inpatient medical services including acute and longstay care outpatient services and emergency care. Telehealth options minimize the need for patient travel. The local multidisciplinary team is supported by visiting specialists in medical dental nursing and allied health from various organizations including nongovernment and private providers.
