Job Summary
The CSPD Interim Manager is responsible for the supervision of all Central Sterile Supply activities staff scheduling shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments and supplies to the OR and ancillary departments. The Interim Manager will coordinate and monitor all sterile processing and distribution functions including but not limited to decontamination preparation/packaging sterilization of surgical instruments and case carts.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the assigned Project Manager or the Clinical Director.
Job Functions
- Monitor audit and enhance the quality of the process and products manufactured or rendered to customers by the department.
- Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner; ensure that client satisfaction is achieved.
- Enforce the appropriate service levels to achieve staff productivity and standardized department policies and procedures are compliant.
- Utilizes time effectively and manages to complete assignments within the allotted time.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise in sterile processing and inventory control principles.
- Effectively manage human relations activities.
- Accurately and consistently follow documentation guidelines in all phases of the process as required by the department and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrate the ability to maximize resources and is skillful in adjusting resources according to the workload and volume.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the organization s Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
- Assures departmental standards of operation and policies are compliant with regulatory and professional agencies including but not limited to CMS The Joint Commission AAMI AORN & APIC.
- Manage department budget and overtime.
- Manage departmental reports (weekly monthly and annual).
- Communicate barriers that will interfere with daily operations to appropriate parties.
- Provide weekly project status reports to the Project Director.
- Work closely with SIPS Administrative Team to ensure project timelines are on target.
- Facilitate the recruitment and selection of department staff.
- Ensures comprehensive departmental orientation for new staff.
- Coordinate training and competency validation for all departmental staff.
- Represents SIPS by attending appropriate department and facility meetings.
- Generate and interpret statistical productivity and quality performance reports. Utilizes data to improve performance.
- Exhibit managerial principles by consistently utilizing problem analysis group dynamics and staff skills analysis in an objective manner.
- A basic understanding of anatomy operating room practices and instruments.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic equipment and instruments.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:
- Associates degree required. Bachelors Degreepreferred
- Minimal 7 years of experience in a sterile processing or Operating Room department.
- Minimum of five (5) Years of SPD leadership experience.
- Current Sterile Processing Technician certification (HSPA or CBSPD).
