Job Description

Vacancy: Chef/Cook

Location: Ikoyi Lagos

Job Summary

An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and deliver well prepared meals. He/she must be adept at moving around the kitchen and apt in multi tasking. The ideal candidates are required to have experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques.

The duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Meal preparation
  • Prepare meals according to dietary needs
  • Follow recipes including measuring weighing and mixing ingredients.
  • Bake grill steam and boil meats vegetables fish and poultry and other foods as requested
  • Present garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area including handling of utensils equipment and dishes
  • Handle store and manage ingredients and food
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Be willing to learn new recipes
  • Monitor and manage stock
  • Always wear assigned uniform
  • Perform ad hoc duties that may be assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • Candidate must have undergone catering courses (diploma/ degree) with minimum of 4 5 years experience as a professional Chef.
  • The desired candidate must be in absolute control of all the kitchen affairs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • The ideal candidate must be organized and pay attention to details.
  • Must maintain an impeccable personal hygiene as well as high work and safety standards.
  • An excellent food presentation skill is highly required.
  • The candidate needs to be able to work with a variety of people and have coping skills to handle difficult personalities.
  • Must be able to delegate many kitchen tasks simultaneously.
  • The chef must have good knowledge of Nigerian and continental meal preparation.
