Job Description

Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant Primary School Bow London
A welcoming primary school in Bow is seeking a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to work with students with sensory impairments. This is an exciting fulltime opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) and promoting inclusive education.

This inclusive primary school in Bow is dedicated to providing highquality support for students with a range of special educational needs particularly those with sensory impairments. The school is looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with students helping them overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities. As part of the SEN team you will play a vital role in helping these students succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oneonone and group support to students with sensory impairments adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised learning plans ensuring that students can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist students with mobility and the use of sensory aids ensuring their safety and comfort in the classroom.
  • Monitor student progress providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessments and reviews of student development.
  • Help create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages independence and confidence in students with sensory impairments.
  • Collaborate with external professionals such as occupational therapists and specialist teachers to ensure a coordinated approach to support.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with sensory impairments is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with sensory needs and the strategies to support them.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work closely with teachers SEN staff and external specialists.
  • Patience empathy and a commitment to promoting inclusive education.
  • A clear DBS check.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
