The Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR) Research Group on Rare Anemias Disorders (Barcelona) offers a vacant position for a Scientific Project Planner who will participate in the financial and technical planning of several impactful Research projects many of which are financed by the EU Horizon Programme.
The research strategy of the Research Group on Rare Anemias Disorders is focused on the development and validation of innovative methodological approaches for better characterisation of patients affected by rare hematological diseases according to their individual features. We aim at advancing research in personalized medicine thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and standardized sharing of crossborder data.
In line with our strategy we have been awarded several grants and are looking for a highly organized and motivated Scientific Project Planner to join our team. In this role you will develop project plans gather information on tasks to be completed milestones to be achieved and the available budget. You will identify team members participating in the delivery of the different work packages plan resource allocation across projects spot bottlenecks and make sure tasks are completed on time within scope and budget. You will also create and streamline processes to support the successful execution of our projects (validation processes project documentation such as risk logs etc...).
The ideal candidate will have a background in sciences strong project management skills and a keen eye for detail.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- A degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. biology Biomedical sciences)
- Fluent (spoken and written) English
- IT skills: Proficient use of Excel (pivot tables) and PowerPoint
Desired:
- Master / PhD on the area of science
- Project Management Certification: PMP PRINCE2 or similar certification is a plus.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in scientific project management project planning within a scientific or research environment.
- Experience with European Projects planning and delivery coordination (work packages personmonths...)
Main responsibilities and duties:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop detailed project plans including scope timelines budgets and resource allocation for several scientific projects.
- Coordinate and collaborate with our delivery team to ensure project alignment and smooth execution.
- Revise project plans on a regular basis making sure any issue is escalated to the management.
Resource Management:
- Identify and allocate necessary resources (personnel) to ensure project milestones are met within initial budget allocation. When needed for European Projects ensure time is properly recorded in timesheets as per EC guidance and reflects project activity.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures providing regular updates and flagging any potential deviations or resource gaps.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
- Assist project Managers in assessing potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project deliverables.
- Create and update risk logs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and uptodate project documentation including reports data and internal Project Management products.
- Generate progress reports and project summaries for management highlighting key achievements challenges and future actions.
Labour conditions:
- Fulltime position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities.
