Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Join Red Sea's Sport and Entertainment (RSSE) Subsidiary and be part of the positive change for Saudi Arabia and the world.

Job Purpose:

  • The Freediving Instructor is a site-based position.
  • The main goal of this position is to lead and teach freediving. Furthermore the Freediving Instructor assists the Dive Center Manager in the smooth and efficient running of all dive operations within the scope of area. He/She is responsible for the realization of the day-to-day activities of all freedive activities originating from the designated asset.
  • The Freediving Instructor will ensure all freedive-related activities within the asset are conducted in a safe and professional manner.
  • This includes: appearance of the dive center, leading freedive excursions, teaching courses, all freedive-related sales. Freediving Instructor’s will act as salesmen assisting with the retail outlet.

Job Responsibilities:

General

  • Reporting directly to the Dive Center Manager, assist in the smooth running of the dive center of the asset.
  • Assist the RSG Dive Operations in the development of other (free)dive centers at other assets.
  • Teach all course to and above PADI standards.
  • Lead visiting freedivers on freedives from the asset.
  • Work with Sustainability and RSZA departments to ensure alignment with sensitive and high-profile environmental issues in the development and operation of Marine Life and Underwater Tourism related assets.
  • Work remotely and visit office as and when required.

Establishment of Dive Center: Pre-Opening

  • Work alongside the Senior Manager to develop and deliver the dive centre and necessary components.
  • Working alongside and supporting all RSG departments during Delivery stage to ensure targets are achieved, operational phasing is initiated when required and projects are delivered as designed.
  • Become familiar with dive sites within reach of the asset.

Establishment of Dive Center: Post-Opening

  • Manage standards of teaching and leading freedives. Safety is paramount and always the first priority.
  • All activities conducted from the Dive Center are conducted in a professional manner.
  • Ensure all daily freediving activities are conducted in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure all courses are taught in a safe and professional manner, always ensuring that instructors err on the side of caution and that instructors follow all standards set forth by the training agency they represent.
  • Ensure up to date and accurate records are kept pertaining to teaching activities.
  • Assist with sales in the retail outlet.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and the public.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • PADI Freediving Instructor with proven track record in minimum 40m depth or AIDA Freediving Instructor willing to crossover to PADI
  • Certified minimum 25 freediving student
  • Active and Renewed PADI Instructor
  • Hospitality track record
  • Freediving health & safety experience
  • Freediving track record in various geographic locations
  • Equipment management
  • Dive retail
  • Marine conservation
  • Fit to Dive Medical

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • Excellent communicator and public talking
  • Has an aptitude and aspiration for outstanding customer service with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Flexible and open-minded approach to environment and tasks
  • Ability to self-motivate and deliver to agreed deadlines
  • A working knowledge of guiding dives, allowing for delivery of a “wow” experience
  • A working knowledge of dive equipment to assist with corrective maintenance

  • Has an interest in and an ability to build a solid understanding of marine science, research, conservation and education
  • Ability to deliver a magical guest experience and deliver high-quality (de)briefs
  • Able to assist with dive center administration and planning
