As a Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the design process through all phases, from conceptualization to the development of construction documents. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and collaborative skills, as you will manage and coordinate activities with various stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and clients. Your leadership will ensure that projects not only meet client expectations but also adhere to industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
You will spearhead the mechanical engineering design process, overseeing every aspect from initial concepts to schematic design and detailed design development. This includes performing intricate calculations to support the design work, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing system performance. Your familiarity with Eurocodes and other relevant industry standards will be crucial in guaranteeing compliance across all designs.
Creating and reviewing drawing packages, specifications, and technical documents will be a significant part of your role. Your attention to detail will be paramount, as you conduct thorough quality assurance and quality control checks on all mechanical engineering deliverables. This diligence will ensure that all outputs meet the high standards expected in the industry and align with project specifications.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong preference for candidates with 7 years of relevant experience. You should have a proven track record of proficiency in Eurocodes and other design codes and standards, as well as experience navigating the RIBA stages of work and other established design processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be liaising with various stakeholders to ensure project alignment and facilitate problem-solving. Your ability to work collaboratively in a team environment will be critical for driving project success. Furthermore, an unwavering attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work will set you apart in this role.
