Position: Telecommunications Technician
Duration: 11 months
Location: Montgomery AL (Onsite from day 1)
Project Description:
- Installs Network and telephone cabling as needed. Terminate and test cabling for optimal operation.
- Installs telephone sets and tests for proper operation.
- Test network equipment such as switches LAN Extenders and telephones.
- Troubleshoot voice and data issues to determine if repair or replacement is needed.
- Employee will have to travel to various State Prison Facilities throughout Alabama.
- Employee will be exposed and in contact with male and female inmates at the facilities while performing various tasks and responsibilities.
Skills Required:
- Install Cabling throughout buildings (Sometimes works in ceilings crawlspaces and on ladders) Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to work overhead.
- Knowledge of Network and Telephone cable termination methodologies.
- Knowledge of standard network and telephony cable coloring schemes.
Skills Preferred:

- Network and telephone cable and equipment troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of standard network and telephony cable coloring schemes.
Experience Required:
- 12 months experience in the telephone or network field.
- Proven experience working as a Network and Telecommunications Technician.
- Sound knowledge of Network and Telecommunications systems.
Experience Preferred:
- 12 months of work in a telecommunications environment involving installation and troubleshooting telephone cabling and end user equipment.
Education Required:
Education Preferred:
One year of postsecondary education program in Telecommunications Telecommunications Technology. Preferred but not required.
