Job Title: 2nd Shift Refrigeration Maintenance Technician
Location: Council Bluffs IA
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: USD As per Exp.
Job Summary:
Join Client and help us raise the bar on quality food production in a safe environment for our team members. As a Refrigeration Maintenance Technician you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of our refrigeration systems in our facility that operates five days a week producing Pepperoni. This 2nd shift role runs from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am with competitive pay great benefits and significant opportunities for career progression based on your skills and training.
Position Summary:
The Refrigeration Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems specifically focusing on ammonia and other plantbased refrigeration equipment. The role involves maintaining a safe working environment while adhering to Client policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Operate monitor and repair ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment including compressors evaporators condensers and piping systems.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct safety checks and perform preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety food safety GMP and SQF standards.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass a basic physical and a pulmonary (breathing) test; ability to wear a respirator and complete respirator training is required.
- Mobility and Environment: Ability to work in various conditions (e.g. heat cold rain and other harsh environments) and move to different areas of the plant as needed.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with management Quality Assurance vendors and USDA representatives; must be able to read write and use math skills for necessary documentation.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime weekends and other shifts to cover for vacations training or special projects.
NonNegotiable Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 6 months of continuous work experience in maintenance with a single employer within the last 12 months or have recently attended/graduated from an industrial maintenance training program within the last 3 years.
- Ability to work the 2nd shift from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am.
- Capable of passing a physical exam pulmonary test and completing respirator training.
Preferred Skills (NicetoHave):
- Experience or education in refrigeration systems with a preference for ammoniabased systems.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.
- Strong desire and willingness to learn the ammonia refrigeration trade.

Additional Information:
- Compensation: This position starts at $26.35/hr. for level 1 with additional shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts and opportunities for overtime.
