Job Description

JJob Summary: Performs the daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory including catheter ablations pacemaker and defibrillator implants/removals/upgrades tilt table tests direct current cardioversions cardiac lead extractions electrophysiology studies and left atrial appendage closures. Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing applying surgical gown gloving draping and setup of instrument table. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned laboratory. Job Duties: Ensures correct order is obtained patient is properly identified and prepared for exam and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety optimizing patient care and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). Preparing and/or administering as applicable medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data post processing of data if applicable. Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers. Assisting licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional cardiology procedures. Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing applying surgical gown gloving draping and setup of instrument table. Maintains and troubleshoots electrophysiology laboratory equipment to assure operability and safety; calibrates equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance procedures. Maintaining intraarterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Panning the procedure table during image production. Performing manual hemostasis during and after procedure Operates and ensures the quality control of devices electrocardiogram monitoring equipment/cardiac stimulator oxygen consumption equipment and blood analysis equipment. Maintaining and removing peripherally inserted central catheters as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Initiates ACLS protocols as required for cardiac roles. Participates as necessary with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Position Details: Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and exam eligible required. International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) status required after two years of hire. RCES / RCIS preferred. OR Applicants who hold an ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification. Great team environment!
