Job Description:
Database Engineer with experience in database performance optimization configuration management and performance testing to support our ongoing efforts to improve and maintain efficient database systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our databases helping us to identify inefficiencies optimize configurations and introduce performance testing practices to prevent regressions.
Experience: 5 years of relevant professional experience with Bachelors 3 with Masters or none with a PhD
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Engineering Computer Science Information Systems or related field
Security: Current/active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph or willingness to take one. Background investigation is required including a minimum of a criminal and credit check as well as at least three professional references.

Principal Responsibilities:
Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving inefficiencies
Ensure database configurations are properly managed through configuration management (CM) practices
Implement and manage performance testing tools such as JMeter or alternatives to prevent performance regressions
Collaborate with software and system engineers to ensure optimal integration and performance of the database systems
Support proactive database performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements:
Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to pass a CI polygraph
Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments on location 5 days a week
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree)
5 years of experience in database engineering database performance optimization and configuration management
Strong understanding of database technologies and systems
Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or similar alternatives
Experience with version control systems for managing database configurations
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases Postgres Mongo databases Liquibase and SQL queries
Experience with Java SpringBoot and Hibernate
An Excellent Candidate for this position will meet most of the following experience requirements:
Experience with automated testing
Proficient in identifying database inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions
Understanding of regression testing and performance monitoring tools
Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments.
