Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Conceptualization and Design:
  • Lead the creative process by generating innovative and trend-setting design

concepts.

  • Develop detailed design and technical sketches, mood boards, and prototypes for

various fashion collections.

  • Trend Analysis:
  • Stay abreast of current fashion trends, market developments, and competitor offerings

to inform and inspire design decisions.

  • Utilize trend forecasting to anticipate and capitalize on emerging styles and consumer

preferences.

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in fabric selection and thorough knowledge in pattern making, garment

construction to collaborate with production team and pattern makers.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to address manufacturing and production

considerations.

  • Embroidery and print development:
  • Have in depth knowledge and experience in various types of print designing (seamless

prints, placement prints, panel prints etc.) on Adobe illustrator and photoshop

  • Develop embroidery motifs using different embellishments and techniques to guide

our in-house embroiderers and artisans.

  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and inspire a team of designers, guiding them through the design process and

fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, procurement and

production teams to ensure seamless integration of design concepts into the overall

brand strategy.

  • Quality Control:
  • Oversee the development of samples and prototypes, ensuring the highest quality

standards are met.

  • Conduct regular quality checks and provide feedback to ensure adherence to design

specifications.

  • Presentation and Communication:a. Present design concepts and collections to Creative Director, management team and

clients, with clear and compelling communication.

  • Effectively communicate design ideas and requirements to the production team, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Design Development

  • Concept Creation: Develop and conceptualize new design ideas based on current fashion trends, cultural influences, and market demands.
  • Sketching and Illustration: Create sketches, drawings, and digital renderings of designs, detailing materials, colors, and construction techniques.
  • Material Selection

  • Fabric and Material Sourcing: Research and select appropriate fabrics, materials, and trims that align with the design vision and budget.
  • Sample Creation: Collaborate with production teams to create prototypes and samples, adjusting designs based on feasibility and cost considerations.
  • Technical Specifications

  • Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed technical specifications and patterns for production, ensuring accuracy in measurements and construction methods.
  • Fit Testing: Oversee fittings and adjustments to ensure the final product meets design specifications and fits properly.
  • Market Research

  • Trend Analysis: Conduct market research to identify emerging fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor designs.
  • Consumer Feedback: Gather and analyze feedback from target audiences to refine designs and improve product offerings.
  • Collaboration and Communication

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other designers, merchandisers, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive product lines and effective promotional strategies.
  • Vendor Liaison: Communicate with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors to coordinate production schedules and quality control.

Desired candidate profile

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fashion design role.

Proven track record of successful fashion collections and demonstrated expertise in various design styles.

In-depth knowledge of fashion trends, textiles, and garment construction.

A portfolio featuring projects that illustrate the entire creative process, from ideation to the final product.

Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (with a minimum proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) and Procreate.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.

Marketing and Promotion
Collection Presentation: Prepare and present fashion collections to clients, buyers, and industry stakeholders during fashion shows and trade exhibitions.
Brand Development: Contribute to brand identity and marketing strategies through design aesthetics and storytelling.
Additional Responsibilities
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and best practices in fashion design and production.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior designers and interns, fostering their professional development.
