Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures to promote a safe work environment.
  • Risk Assessment:

    • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety measures.
    • Analyze incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and Awareness:

    • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on HSE practices, policies, and emergency procedures.
    • Promote safety awareness and best practices through workshops, meetings, and communication materials.
  • Incident Investigation:

    • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine causes and recommend improvements.
    • Prepare detailed reports on incidents, including findings and recommendations for future prevention.
  • Safety Inspections:

    • Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Identify unsafe conditions and practices, and work with management to implement corrective actions.
  • Emergency Preparedness:

    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and emergency drills.
    • Coordinate and conduct emergency drills to test the effectiveness of response plans and ensure employee preparedness.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Monitor health and safety performance through inspections, audits, and incident tracking.
    • Prepare and present reports on HSE performance to management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Policy Development:

    • Collaborate with management to develop and update HSE policies and procedures based on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
    • Ensure policies are communicated effectively to all employees and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and other stakeholders on HSE matters to ensure compliance and best practices.
    • Participate in industry forums and workshops to stay informed about current trends and regulations.
  • Data Management:

    • Maintain records related to health, safety, and environmental activities, including training records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
    • Use data to identify trends, measure performance, and inform decision-making.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:

    • Promote environmental sustainability within the organization by implementing initiatives to reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE processes and practices.
    • Stay updated on emerging HSE trends, technologies, and regulations to enhance safety initiatives.

Desired candidate profile

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and audits.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using HSE management software and tools for reporting and data analysis.

Analytical Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to interpret data and produce comprehensive reports.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for delivering training, preparing reports, and engaging with stakeholders.
