Job Overview:
The Crew Manager is responsible for overseeing all crew planning manning and operational functions related to seafarers. This role involves managing the crewing requirements of individual vessels ensuring that all operations are conducted in compliance with international maritime regulations and addressing the manning needs for each vessel. The Crew Manager will coordinate recruitment placement and administrative functions related to crew members ensuring smooth operations and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage crew planning including the recruitment selection and deployment of qualified seafarers for each vessel.
- Ensure that all manning activities comply with international maritime regulations company policies and flag state requirements.
- Monitor and maintain uptodate records of crew certifications qualifications and training ensuring all personnel meet mandatory requirements.
- Oversee crew rotation schedules ensuring that seafarers are deployed according to contractual terms and regulatory rest requirements.
- Liaise with vessel masters and other relevant departments to ensure proper crew coordination and address any operational issues.
- Handle crew contracts payroll and any crewrelated financial matters ensuring timely payments and adherence to contractual agreements.
- Manage and resolve any crew welfare issues including healthcare discipline and grievances in a fair and timely manner.
- Keep track of crew travel arrangements visas work permits and accommodations.
- Collaborate with external agencies such as crewing agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and efficient crew management.
- Maintain effective communication with seafarers ensuring that they are informed of their assignments and any changes.
- Prepare reports on crew activities operational performance and manning compliance.
- Stay up to date with changes in international maritime regulations and ensure company policies and practices reflect current standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in crew management or maritime operations.
- Proven experience with crew planning manning and seafarer management.
- Thorough understanding of international maritime regulations (ISM Code MLC 2006 STCW etc.).
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to handle complex and sensitive crew issues with diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for crew management and scheduling.
- Attention to detail especially in maintaining crew certifications and compliance documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fastpaced environment.
- Experience in managing multinational crew is a plus.
