Job Description
Job Summary:
1. Position: Network and Telecom Engineer for a local government agency in San Antonio TX
2. Longterm contract with opportunity for 5 years of extensions
3. Role involves developing building testing implementing and supporting complex network and/or telecom IT infrastructure both in the cloud and on premises
4. Role requires providing subject matter expertise in a range of areas related to network messaging microwave radio or telecom infrastructure
5. Responsible for technical supervision over assigned staff
6. Tasks include installation configuration testing and maintenance of complex networks telecom microwave or radio infrastructure
7. Expected to automate tasks and design develop and comply with Service Level Agreements and Operational Level Agreements
8. Role involves collaborating with developers and managing site acquisition activities related to network infrastructure installations
9. Expected to develop capacity planning models and loadbalancing and redundancy solutions
10. Participates in planning efforts with management and performs related duties as required
11. Requires a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university and five years of relevant networking experience
12. Knowledge in development security and operations principles and methods network security concepts firewalls and load balancers is necessary
13. Skills required include utilizing a broad range of network system monitoring and management tools applying a broad range of telecom & radio principles and working in an agile environment
14. Ability to use sophisticated test equipment provide demonstrations and presentations and create both technical and nontechnical enduser documentation is necessary
15. Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations and be willing to work primarily in an office environment.
