Job Description

Data Engineer (Finance Systems)

Our client a leader in the insurance sector is looking to hire five skilled professionals with expertise in ETL processes PostgreSQL development and data integration for financial reporting. The role involves ensuring accurate data management across various finance systems.

What is in it for you:

Salaried: $75 to $79 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $88 to $92 per hour.
6month contract.
Fulltime position: 37.50 hours per week.
Hybrid work: inoffice three days per week at the Markham office with mandatory attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday plus one flexible weekday.

Responsibilities:

Design develop and maintain ETL processes to extract transform and load data from diverse sources into finance systems.
Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures in PostgreSQL.
Monitor and troubleshoot daily and monthly job executions addressing failures promptly.
Collaborate with finance and insurance teams to understand data requirements ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Build reports using Qlik and other data visualization tools.
Conduct data analysis and troubleshooting to resolve datarelated issues.
Implement data quality checks and validation processes to uphold data standards.
Create solutions for complex finance calculations using PostgreSQL stored procedures or ETL tools.
Monitor and enhance the performance of ETL processes and database systems.
Document technical specifications and maintain comprehensive records of ETL processes and database schemas.
Stay informed on the latest industry trends and best practices in ETL and database management.

What you will need to succeed:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
Proven experience as an ETL Developer specifically with Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica BDM.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and database design with experience supporting finance systems.
Experience with Oracle Fusion applications including submodules such as accounts payable cash management and fixed assets.
Experience working with Guidewire Policy Billing and Claims Centers.
Experience with Snowflake and cloudbased data solutions.
Proficiency with automation tools like ControlM and ASG ZENA and scripting in Unix.
Knowledge of data visualization tools including Qlik Python reporting and Power BI.
Solid understanding of accounting principles including balance sheet and P&L concepts.
Understanding of underwriting data terminology within the insurance industry.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
Experience in Agile methodology and familiarity with JIRA.
Informatica Certified Professional (ICP) or other relevant Informatica certifications are an asset.
Guidewire professional certifications are an asset.
Familiarity with additional database systems such as Oracle and MySQL; SQL Associate Certification is a plus.
Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
