A primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham is seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to work with children with sensory impairments. Experience in special educational needs (SEN) is essential along with a passion for helping children succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with sensory impairments adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
- Work closely with external specialists such as occupational therapists and speech therapists to integrate recommended strategies into the classroom.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers and parents regarding achievements and areas for improvement.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to sensory impairments and SEN.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with children with sensory impairments or special educational needs in a school setting is essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students and their families.
- A patient and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to help children succeed.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable.
- A DBS check is required.
