Required High school diploma or equivalent.
Required 2 Years of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.
Preferred Clinical MRI experience.
Required Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
ARRT registered or unlimited state license
OR
Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) with an associate degree or bachelors degree in allied health field
OR
ARRT ARMRIT OR CAMRT registered as an MR technologist without experience.
Advanced certification in MRI is required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry is required within two years of employment.
Preferred Advanced certification in MRI required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency in using computers software and webbased applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of MRI procedures and technical language.
Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality work efficiently and calmly under pressure and be selfdirected and function without direct supervision.
Ability to work flexible schedules (such as nights evenings weekends holidays extended shifts etc.) and travel throughout and between facilities.
General knowledge of cardiac anatomy Doppler physics and blood flow hemodynamics in relation to the various disease states.
Ability to preliminary identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationally published criteria.
Ability to assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
Ability to provide care and/or support services in a manner consistent with the patients age social spiritual and cultural needs and other special considerations.
Job Duties
Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy.
Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
Explain the procedure to the patient to ensure understanding.
Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol (including IV placement).
Review patient images before transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
Completes timely quality control procedures following regulatory standards and performs notification/remediation as warranted.
Assists in facilitating departmental operations (inventory staff schedules equipment maintenance etc.).
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population including but not limited to respect for privacy method of introduction to the patient adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed requesting permissions and communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Very Heavy Work Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace especially in an industrial setting can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood body fluid and tissue.
The incumbent works in a patient care area in an area where patients enter directly with patients and/or with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk of exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works in a healthcare setting there may be an occupational risk of exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste in the environment through receipt transport storage preparation dispensing administration cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
