BMS Controls Specialist

Roles and responsibilities

• System Installation and Configuration

  • Equipment Installation: Install, configure, and test Building Management System (BMS) hardware and software components.
  • System Integration: Integrate BMS with other building systems such as HVAC, lighting, security, and fire safety.

• Monitoring and Maintenance

  • System Monitoring: Continuously monitor BMS performance and functionality to ensure optimal operation.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on BMS components to prevent failures.

• Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Issue Diagnosis: Identify and diagnose system faults or malfunctions, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Repairs and Upgrades: Conduct repairs and upgrades as needed, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.

• Programming and Optimization

  • System Programming: Program BMS controllers and interfaces to optimize energy usage and improve system efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze system data and performance metrics to recommend adjustments and enhancements.

• Documentation and Reporting

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of installations, maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on system performance, energy consumption, and maintenance activities for management review.

• Collaboration

  • Team Coordination: Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Client Interaction: Interact with clients to understand their needs, provide system training, and address any concerns.

• Compliance and Safety

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that BMS installations and operations comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working on electrical and mechanical systems.

• Continuous Learning

  • Training and Development: Stay updated on the latest BMS technologies, tools, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development.

Desired candidate profile

Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of building management systems, HVAC systems, and electrical circuits.
Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to address technical issues effectively.
Experience
experience in BMS, HVAC, or building automation systems.
Project Experience: Experience in installation and maintenance of BMS in commercial or industrial settings is preferred.
Technical Skills
Software Knowledge: Familiarity with BMS software platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Trane) and programming languages.
Networking Skills: Understanding of networking principles and protocols as they relate to building management systems.
