Responsibilities:

As a Postgres Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases. Your responsibilities will include:

• Database Management: Oversee the performance, integrity, and security of our Postgres databases. Ensure that the databases are up and running smoothly, with minimal downtime.
• Migration Projects: Participate in migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL, ensuring a seamless transition of data and processes. Your expertise will be crucial in planning and executing these migrations effectively.
• Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor database performance and implement improvements to optimize speed and efficiency. This includes identifying bottlenecks and developing strategies to enhance performance.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity. Your role will be vital in ensuring that data can be restored quickly and efficiently in case of a failure.
• Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect sensitive data. This includes setting up user roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support database-related projects. Provide guidance on best practices for database design and usage.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes to ensure knowledge transfer within the team.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator. Familiarity with Oracle databases and experience in migration projects is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security best practices. Experience with tools such as pgAdmin, psql, or similar is a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues effectively.
• Communication: Strong communication skills in both English and German are essential, as you will collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
