JOB TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist

SUMMARY:
The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) works with the Clinical Director Associate Clinical Directors a team of BCBAs and RBTs to provide a range of speech and language pathology services for children with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities. The SLP works in partnership with those providing ABA OT and speech services at Roots. Every SLP is required to adhere to the ASHA Professional and Ethical Compliance Code as well as all regulatory and statutory rules of the Board of Medicine for the State of Illinois.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with a dynamic team of BCBA s ABA therapists occupational therapists social workers and other professionals in the community
- Evaluates and qualifies children for speech services
- Develops and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment and therapy plans
- Provides group and individual therapy services
- Is responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for therapeutic services for clients
- Works closely to follow behavior plans in conjunction with a certified BCBA and will incorporate principles of ABA therapy and other approaches based on each individual client.
- Works with clients with a variety of needs from nonverbal or limited verbal output to communicating at the conversational level.
- Experience and/or interest in the following areas is preferred: expressive receptive and socialpragmatic language executive functioning augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and feeding.
- Clinicians will work closely to follow behavior plans in conjunction with a certified BCBA and will incorporate principles of ABA therapy and other approaches based on each individual client.
Requirements
- Licensed speechlanguage pathologist
- Masters degree required
- Open to Clinical Fellows
- At least one year experience as an SLP
- Able to provide therapy between 8 a.m. 6 p.m.
- Experience and/or interest in the following areas is preferred: expressive receptive and socialpragmatic language executive functioning augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and feeding.
