ABOUT DESCARTES UNDERWRITING
Descartes was born out of the conviction that the everincreasing complexity of risks faced by corporations governments and vulnerable communities calls for a renewed approach in insurance. Our team brings together industry veterans from the most renowned institutions (AXA SCOR Swiss Re Marsh Aon ...) and scientists on top of their field to bring underwriting excellence. After 5 years of existence Descartes has secured a leading position in parametric insurance for weather and climaterelated risks leveraging machine learning realtime monitoring from satellite imagery & IoT. After a successful Series B raise of $120M USD we launched Descartes Insurance a full stack insurer licensed to underwrite risk by the French regulator ACPR. With a growing corporate client base (400 and counting) our diverse team is headquartered in Paris and operates out of our 17 global offices in North America Europe Australia Singapore Hong Kong and Japan. Descartes is trusted by a panel of Arated (re)insurers to carry out its activities.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
While Descartes achieved major milestones since its inception (one of the largest Series B in the InsurTech Space international footprint) a taskforce was set up to support its future development.
You would join the Strategy & New Business Team and report to the Strategy Project Manager New Business to identify additional growth drivers and help set them up. This role is a great opportunity to explore nearly all facets of a Tech startup at the forefront of innovation in insurance.
KEY MISSIONS
- Support the Strategy & New Business team in launching the new Business Lines identified by senior management from product market study to operational launch;
- Assist the Strategy Project Manager New Business in performing indepth analyses (market competition distribution operations);
- Contribute to the production of project documentation (business plan product approval documentation interview minutes);
- Prepare studies to support internal decisionmaking (providers benchmark);
- Cooperate with various Descartes teams to ensure successful product launch;
- Support the Strategy & New Business team in building new partnerships to fuel Descartes Groups growth working closely with other departments;
- Prepare interactions with different internal & external stakeholders (Head of Strategy & New Business founders (re)insurance companies experts);
- Assist in miscellaneous tasks as requested by the Strategy Project Manager New Business.
ABOUT YOU
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed a masters degree from a Business or Engineering school;
- 01 years experience (internships or/and apprentice) in Consulting or/and Strategy or/and Finance.
SKILLS
- Proficiency in MS office (Powerpoint Excel);
- Eye for quality autonomous and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal);
- Professional English (written spoken).
