Job Description

General job duties. Types of procedures required. Experience in a majority of these Orthopedic subspecialties: Hands Podiatry Arthroscopic procedures Fractures and Total Joints. General job duties include but are not limited to: opening sterile supplies/instruments setting up for surgical cases first scrubbing surgical cases working with a team during turnovers assisting other ORs when assigned room is not actively running etc. This unit functions as a team and assists each other with all duties that fall into their legal scope of practice. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. Epic supply usage and preference card resource Arthrex tower for arthroscopy procedures Required skills and minimum years of experience. Orthopedic experience required. Cataract and Eye muscle case experience is great but not required/expected. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technologist and at least 1 year in Orthopedics. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. BLS and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) for ND Shift or schedule requirements. The candidate would work in the OR with a circulating nurse. Some larger orthopedic cases will include a second scrub; this may be a scrub nurse or surgical technologist. Monday through Friday 8 hour (or 10 hr. if preferred) shifts between. Late shifts worked into these shifts that would be assigned to potentially work past their 8 hour shift. Not required but would like candidate to rotate into Ortho call coverage. Call rotation would be 1 weekend every 6 weeks and 1 weekday call every other week. Floating to over units/departments. No Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 10 Ortho operating rooms 2 Eye Center Operating Rooms Dress Code: Surgical scrubs provided Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. For travelers they are given 5 days of orientation on the unit. If the candidate agrees to take call there would be a shift scheduled with a buddy to orientate. The 5 days of orientation would be focused on Orthopedics with a rotation through the different types of cases perform. If the candidate had Eye experience that would be an orientation day later on if determined to be a need of the unit.
