HyLabs final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research Development and Innovation (R&DI) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services. Moreover the HyLab will foster innovation addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogendriven economy and to promote skilled and valueadded job creation.
It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems in the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle the energy transition challenges through the entire hydrogen value chain.
The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes academia industry companies small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) startups and hydrogenrelated technology manufacturing industries.
We are looking for a Researcher Electrical Systems Engineering who will report to the Lead Research on Energy Conversion and will have the mission to Develop applied research and innovation activities in of Electrical Systems Engineering namely on control algorithms and electrical systems design in hydrogenpowered transportation.
You will be challenged with:

  • Design innovative control algorithms for electrical propulsion systems in ships rail and longhaul trucking to optimize energy conversion and usage.
  • Develop energy management tools tailored to each transportation mode through case studies.
  • Research diagnostic tools to mitigate operational failures in the transportation sector.
  • Collaborate on R&D projects particularly those aligned with the Mobilizing Agendas of the Recovery and Resilience Plan focusing on Electrical Systems Engineering.
  • Cooperate with project partners to ensure the successful delivery of technical work and the preparation of related project reports.
  • Provide specialized services to industry customers and partners.
  • Participate in activities to disseminate scientific knowledge including writing scientific articles conference papers and communications.
Who are we looking for:
  • Masters degree in educational background in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in designing and simulating equivalent electrical circuits and energy conversion pathways involving hydrogen.
  • Experimental experience in power electronics is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in software for electrical and energy systems simulation such as MATLAB/Simulink and HOMER.
  • Strong programming skills in Python are advantageous.
  • Proficiency level in English C1.
