Position: Sr. Database Engineer
Location: Anchorage AK Remotefriendly with a preference for local candidates.
Duration:6 months (possible contract to hire)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and perform performance tuning of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Develop and deploy SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Conduct daily and weekly maintenance checks performance tuning and security audits of production databases.
- Set up new servers potentially including Microsoft Windows Server configuration.
- Perform database tuning integrity checks and review scheduled jobs.
- Work closely with the IT department and other database engineers.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Manage Oracle databases including deployment maintenance and patching.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL (PG SQL) is a plus but not mandatory.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server SSRS and SSIS.
- Experience with Oracle databases.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL (PG SQL) is desirable.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Responsive and able to work well under hightempo conditions.
- Experience working remotely is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to document changes and configurations clearly.
- Responsive to team and project needs.
Work Environment:
- Collaborates closely with IT department and database engineers.
- Reports directly to John and interacts with other key personnel for project requirements.
