Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Music Teacher with responsibility for Band to join a vibrant educational community for an August 2025 Start. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education experience in leading student bands and the ability to inspire middle school students in both classroom learning and musical performance.
The school founded in 2016 is a K12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology cultural heritage and modern beauty with 140000 square meters of green space.
The school curriculum is organized into the Elementary School grades K5 the Middle School grades 68 and High School grades 912. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nineyear compulsory education program the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and western education.
For Elementary and Middle School the school follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum.
For High School the school follows the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offers the UK IGCSE and ALevel UK programs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Fouryear degree from an accredited university
Bachelor of Education PGCE Teaching license: QTS national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
Three years of experience teaching in a bilingual school international school or government/state school
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach general music classes to middle school students incorporating a variety of musical styles and theories.
- Lead and direct the middle school band program including beginner and advanced ensembles ensuring the band program meets both curricular and extracurricular goals.
- Plan and conduct rehearsals for the band ensuring students are prepared for performances such as concerts school events and local competitions.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging curriculum for music and band classes that meets the needs of students with varying levels of musical ability.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to develop their musical talents and creativity.
- Collaborate with other music and performing arts staff to organize schoolwide performances and events.
- Maintain the inventory of musical instruments and manage the maintenance and procurement of equipment.
- Support the emotional social and academic development of middle school students in line with the schools holistic approach to education.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
- Stay current with developments in music education including new teaching methods music technology and repertoire.
- Participate in schoolwide activities such as staff meetings professional development and extracurricular programs.
