Server Repair Tech Level 3
Daily Responsibilities
1. Failure Analysis:
Conduct thorough failure analysis on defective GPU boards and systems using various diagnostic tools and techniques.
Identify root causes of failures including component defects design issues system integration problems and environmental factors.
Perform detailed inspections tests and analysis to gather data on failure modes.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
Document all findings analysis processes and conclusions in system.
Prepare and present failure analysis reports to engineering quality and management teams.
Maintain accurate records of all analyzed failures and corrective actions taken.
3. Testing and Verification:
Use advanced testing equipment and methodologies to replicate and analyze failure conditions in GPU boards and systems.
Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and design changes through rigorous testing.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other teams to provide insights and recommendations based on failure analysis findings.
Participate in crossfunctional team meetings to discuss and address quality and reliability concerns.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Identify trends and patterns in GPU board and system failures to proactively address potential issues.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product reliability and reduce failure rates.
6. Technical Support:
Provide technical support to other technicians and team members in troubleshooting and diagnosing GPU board and system issues.
Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians in failure analysis techniques and methodologies.
Collaborate with teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Other duties as assigned by leadership
Team building & leadership 10% Maintain and nurture positive work environment
Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse shipping receiving etc.
Follow process for system and parts management
Other Personal Skills Required
o Familiar with assemble/disassemble components to product units functional (Soldering knowledge is a plus)
o Knowledge of basic server architectures electronic components and system integration
o Know Linux commands and able to use terminal to run testing diagnostic tools
o Able to understand basic shell script
o Knowledge to enhance trouble shooting and diagnosis of failures
o Good problemsolving and analytical skills.
o Offers insights on process improvement
o Understands repair process prefer if can read schematics.
o Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for failure analysis (e.g. oscilloscopes multimeters thermal cameras).
o Understand basic networking concept
o Interested in constantly learning about servers and networking
o Increased understanding of testing and error codes
Education and Experience
Education High school diploma or equivalent technical experience certifications in Server support and architecture desired
Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing servers
Experience with server configuration and replacing parts in servers
Experience with computer software such as Microsoft Office (Outlook / Power Point / Excel etc.) and call tracking or shop repair tools
Good written and verbal skills needs to document errors and repairs
Industry/Environment: Prefer to have worked in server type of environment
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is constantly required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Employee must be able to lift objects approximately up to 30lbs
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
Must be able to tolerate moderate to high noise level in a warehouse environment
Must be able to work in (hot or cold) weather conditions
